Jat Airways, rebranded as Air Serbia in 2013, is the flag carrier of Serbia headquartered in Belgrade, the capital of the country. Out of its main hub Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, Jat Airways operates flights to 44 destinations across Europe, the Middle East and North America including Abu Dhabi. Initially founded in 1927 under the name of Aeroput, Jat Airways adopted the name Air Serbia in 2013, while the Serbian government is the main stakeholder in the airline.

How to Check in

Passengers flying with Jat Airways have the option to check-in online or do things the conventional way by checking in at the airport. The online check-in service is available from 36 hours up to 1 hour before flights but is only available at select airports including Abu Dhabi, Belgrade and London. Those checking in online are also able to print off a boarding pass to skip the queues at the airport. Travelers wishing to check-in at the airport should be advised that check-in counters open 2 hours and close 45 minutes before scheduled departure times, although for flights to New York counters open 3 hours and close 1 hour before flights.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Travelers on board Jat Airways flights are entitled to bring baggage to check-in as part of the fare, although how much you are allowed depends on your route and flight class. Those flying to and from Abu Dhabi in with an Economy Deal or Saver fare can bring one bag up to 23kg, while those with a Class and Flex fare are permitted two up to 23kg each. Business Class travelers are allowed even more baggage with a limit of two bags up to 32kg each. All passengers are also entitled to bring hand baggage on board no heavier than 8kg in Economy Class or one item up to 8kg and another up to 4kg in Business Class. Excess baggage fees apply with prices varying according to your route - for Middle East flights, your first bag overweight will cost 230AED and any additional bags overweight will cost a further 310AED* each.


Jat Airways flights offer a standard Economy Class in addition to a premium Business Class for those looking for a luxurious flying experience. In Economy Class passengers are afforded ample legroom with a seat pitch of 30-32 inches, while in Business Class you can stretch out more with a seat pitch of 39-49 inches.

Booking Fees

While booking online is free of charge, passengers will need to pay a small fee when booking at a contact center which varies according to your destination. For flights to the Middle East, the fee is 60AED*.
