Air Tanzania

Air Tanzania is the flag carrier of Tanzania initially established in 1977 and owned by the government of Tanzania. Out of its hub at Julius Nyerere International Airport, Air Tanzania currently flies to 8 destinations primarily within Tanzania. The airline underwent significant restructuring in 2007 after a joint venture between Air Tanzania and South African Airways came to an end and now plans to expand its international network of flights in the future.

How to Check in

Passengers flying with Air Tanzania can check in the traditional way by visiting a check in counter at the airport. While the airline does not yet support checking in over the web, it may choose to introduce this feature at some point in the future. Make sure that you give yourself plenty of time to check in at the airport in case of long queues or delays and remember to bring a booking reference to ensure the check in process runs smoothly.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

All travelers on Air Tanzania flights are allowed to bring baggage to check in as part of the fare, although how much you can check in will depend on your cabin class. All passengers flying in Economy Class are permitted up to 20kg of checked baggage, while in Business Class this is increased to 30kg. In addition to checked baggage, all travelers are allowed to bring 7kg of hand baggage on board flights free of charge. Be advised that any excess baggage will incur fees - the airline charges a rate of 13AED* per kilo on domestic flights and 18AED* on international flights.

Seating

Air Tanzania flights offer a regular Economy Class as well as Business Class seating for those who like to travel in style. While there is no way to select a specific seat before your flight, you may be able to ensure you can sit together with friends and family if you consult with the airline before your journey.
