Arik Air

Arik Air is based in Nigeria and operates out of its two main hubs at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja and Murtala Muhammed International Airport near Lagos. The airline mostly flies to destinations around Africa, although it does have longer routes to Dubai International Airport, New York and London. Arik Air flew its first commercial flight in 2006 and has recently begun operating flights to Dubai International Airport since 2014. The motto of the airline is ‘Wings of Nigeria’ and it has its own frequent flyer program, Arik Affinity Wings, for loyal passengers.

How to Check in

Those flying with Arik Air have the option to check-in the traditional way at the airport or check-in from the convenience of your own home online. Checking in online is available from 24 hours up to 5 hours before international flights and 3 hours before domestic and regional routes, although it is only available on certain flights so be sure to check with the airline. It is just as simple to check-in at the airport, with counters opening 2 hours before domestic flights, 3 hours before regional flights and 4 hours before international flights. Check-in counters close 90 minutes before international flights, 45 minutes before regional flights and 30 minutes before domestic flights.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Passengers on board Arik Air flights are entitled to bring baggage to check in as part of the fare, although just how much you are allowed will depend on your flight route and cabin class. For example, on flights to and from Dubai passengers flying in Economy Class are permitted to bring up to 40kg, while Business Class travelers are entitled up to 50kg. All passengers are also allowed to bring one piece of hand baggage on board flights no heavier than 12kg on international and regional flights or 6kg on domestic flights. Any checked baggage over the allocated weight will incur additional fees which vary according to your route. On flights to and from Dubai you will be charged at a rate of 110AED* per additional kilo.

Seating

Arik Air flights offer a standard Economy Class alongside a premium Business Class for those who like to fly in comfort. On long-haul flights passengers in Economy can look forward to a generous seat pitch of 34 inches, while in Business Class seats can be converted into a fully flat bed.
