Thai AirAsia

Thai AirAsia is an airline founded as a joint venture between AirAsia, a Malaysian budget airline, and Asia Aviation. The airline operates a number of domestic flights around Thailand in addition to international flights out of Bangkok. Initially founded in 2003 and based at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thai AirAsia recently established a new operating hub at Bangkok Don Mueang International Airport in 2012. Flying to over 45 destinations with a fleet of 53 aircraft, Thai AirAsia also offers access to its BIG frequent flyer program to loyal passengers.

How to Check in

Travelers with Thai AirAsia have the option to check-in over the web or do things the traditional way at an airport counter. Checking in online is available from 14 days up to 1 hour before scheduled flight departure times, with boarding gates closing 20 minutes before flights. During the online check-in process you are also able to print off a boarding pass to save time at the airport. Those wishing to check-in at the airport can visit a check-in counter - counters open 2 hours and close 45 minutes before domestic flights and open 3 hours and close 1 hour before international flights.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Thai AirAsia does not provide free checked baggage allowances but offers the option for passengers to purchase baggage to check-in to the hold either online or at the airport. On domestic flights you can purchase baggage starting at 15kg up to 40kg, while on international flights baggage from 20kg up to 40kg is available. Be advised that no single item of baggage can exceed 32kg in order to comply with international regulations. Be advised that far cheaper rates are offered when pre-booking baggage online compared to rates offered at the airport. Additionally, all passengers are allowed to bring one item of cabin baggage up to 56cm x 36cm x 23cm as well as a small bag up to a total weight of 7kg as part of the fare.

On Board Service

Passengers flying with Thai AirAsia have the option to pre-book a meal before traveling in order to enjoy tasty food on board. Meals are comprised of a fusion between International and Asian food and are available on flights longer than 75 minutes - shorter flights will serve a range of snacks only. Thai AirAsia flights also offer in-flight duty free shopping to pick up some last minute gifts and souvenirs.
