Virgin America

Virgin America was founded under the Virgin Group brand in 2004 based in California, United States. With a fleet of 63 aircraft, Virgin America flies to over 20 destinations primarily within the United States as well as a few routes to Mexico. The airline’s main operating hub is San Francisco International Airport, while its second hub is Los Angeles International Airport. Although the airline was founded under the Virgin brand, it was recently purchased by Alaska Air Group in 2016 and is expected to merge with Alaska Airlines in the near future.

How to Check in

Passengers flying with Virgin America are able to check-in online or at the airport depending on your preference. For those looking to check-in online, this is available from 24 hours up to 1 hour before flight departures, allowing you to check-in from the comfort of your home or hotel room and print off a boarding pass in advance. Alternatively, do things the conventional way by checking in at an airport counter. You can also beat the queues by carrying out your check-in at a self-service kiosk. Virgin America advises passengers to arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before domestic flights and 2 hours before international flights.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Those looking to check baggage into the hold on a regular fare will need to pay a surcharge, although all passengers can bring hand baggage on board free of charge. You are able to purchase any required baggage either during the initial flight booking stage, whilst checking in online or at the airport. One bag weighing up to 22kg is priced at 90AED*, although certain fare holders are entitled to bring baggage to check-in free of charge - Main Cabin Select travelers are allowed one bag up to 22kg as part of the fare, increased to two bags up to 22kg for First Class passengers.

Seating

Travelers on Virgin America flights have the option to select a preferred seat during the booking or online check-in process. Prices of seats range from 36AED to 145AED* each way, although those who have purchased a Main Cabin Refundable fare and Gold and Silver Elevate members are granted this privilege free of charge.

Booking Fees

There are no hidden fees or charges when purchasing tickets with Virgin America, although buying tickets from a call center will add an additional 75AED* surcharge onto your bill.
