Dhaka Airport, also known as Shahjalal International Airport, is Bangladesh’s largest airport serving Dhaka, the capital of the country. There are both domestic and international flights out of Dhaka Airport including flights to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah operated by numerous carriers. The airport is a hub for Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the flag carrier of the country.

Terminals at Dhaka Airport

Dhaka Airport is made up of three passenger terminals - T1, T2 and the Domestic Terminal. Both T1 and T2 are utilized for international operations, while all domestic flights leave from the Domestic Terminal. There are plans to construct a new international terminal to further boost the capacity of the airport, while there is also a small VIP terminal. Getting between terminals is quick and easy so you don’t need to worry about having a long journey on your hands when transferring between flights.

Facilities at Dhaka Airport

There are ample facilities and amenities available to travelers at Dhaka Airport to ensure all your needs are met. A few dining and drinking options can be found at the airport such as a coffee shop to sit down with a hot drink or a restaurant if you prefer something more substantial. There are a few small shops also selling snacks and refreshments if you want to grab something small to eat.

Duty free shopping is available in the international terminals if you want to pick up some last minute goods or souvenirs. You can also find a variety of small shops around the airport offering basic travel necessities and reading material. There are two airport lounges, Skylounge and Balaka Executive Lounge, available for those who prefer to wait for flights in luxury.

Dhaka Airport Travel Information

There are a few different ways that passengers arriving at Dhaka Airport can get around including public transportation, while the airport is only around 8km from central Dhaka so the journey into the city isn’t long. There are public buses running from the airport, although you will need to ask for directions to find the bus stop as it is a short walk from the terminal building.

Many travelers arriving at the airport opt for a taxi as a way to get to their destination directly. Alternatively, you can find a car hire stall available just outside the airport if you wanted to use your own vehicle during your stay.
