Kigali International Airport is situated just 5 km from Kigali and is the primary airport in Rwanda handling around 700,000 travelers each year. The airport serves a range of flights including direct flights from the UAE and services as far as London and Amsterdam. There are plans to construct a brand-new airport in the region to replace Kigali Airport in the future.

There are three passenger terminals at Kigali Airport including a main terminal and a VIP terminal. Inside the main terminal you will find a decent selection of facilities and amenities to meet your needs. The airport has benefited from recent renovation and refurbishment, so you can expect the airport to be sufficient in cleanliness and general standards.
Facilities at Kigali Airport
At Kigali Airport travelers will find everything you would expect in terms of facilities, although the options are rather limited so don’t expect many dining, drinking and shopping choices. There is, however, a variety of souvenir and gift shops selling locally produced goods, while you can also do some duty-free shopping during your stay at the airport. Hungry travelers won’t find too much available other than a few snack bars and eateries to grab a quick bite to eat. Additional facilities available to travelers include banking services and free Wi-Fi in certain areas of the airport.
Kigali Airport Travel Information
If you are looking to make your way from the airport into Kigali you can either catch a private taxi or travel in one of the local minibuses. Those on a tight budget may prefer to catch a minibus into the city which will cost just a fraction of the price of a taxi. However, you can also find taxis just outside of the airport ready to take you where you need to go. Alternatively, you could also get in touch with a local company and pre-book a private transfer before arriving just to stay on the safe side.
