Mauritius Airport, known also as Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, is the primary airport serving the island of Mauritius. The airport is situated just under 50km from Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius, and serves a variety of destinations across Africa, Asia and Europe. The airport was constructed as a small airfield in 1942 and is now a hub for Air Mauritius, the flag carrier of the country.

Terminals at Mauritius Airport

There are two passenger terminals at Mauritius Airport after a new terminal was recently finished and inaugurated in 2013. The new terminal is connected to the old terminal, so getting between terminals if you need to make a transfer is not a problem. The recently opened terminal is renowned for its stunning design and also incorporates various ecological features to maximize its environmental-friendliness.

Getting from Mauritius Airport to your destination is possible in a number of different ways. Taxis are one of the most popular ways to get around as they can take you directly to your end destination. Taxis can be arranged at a counter at the airport ground level. It is also worth checking with your hotel or resort whether they are able to arrange a shuttle on your behalf as many offer this service.

Alternatively, if you wanted to drive your own vehicle around during your stay then there are many internationally recognized car rental companies operating at the airport. You will find car rental booths directly outside of the Tour Operators hall at the airport. There are also three different bus services that run to and from the airport, with the bus stop located in the airport car park.
