Where to rent a car in Coimbatore
Once your flight has arrived at Coimbatore International Airport there are several car rental agencies available at the airport. All of the companies at the airport are local providers including Myles Car, Speetek Rent a Car, Zoomcar and SRN Self-Drive Cars, so you won’t find any of the usual international brands. While most providers in India will include a local driver as part of the package, there are self-drive options available if you want to drive yourself around. You will also be able to visit one of many car rental offices in the center of the city if you don’t need to collect your vehicle right away. The majority of companies in the city come with excellent reviews so you can have confidence in their reliability.
Driving in Coimbatore
As with most cities in India, it can be hectic on the roads in Coimbatore and not the ideal place for inexperienced drivers. This is why the majority of agencies in India insist on providing their own drivers due to the difficult nature of the local roads. Traffic can be very hectic with motorbikes weaving in and out of traffic and local drivers showing little adherence to the rules of the road, but with a little acclimatization you can get used to it. Remember that in India the traffic flows on the left-hand side of the road and you will need an International Drivers Permit to rent a vehicle in the country.
