Temperatures tend to be at their most pleasant between May and September for those who enjoy the warmth, while rainfall is consistently average all year round. The main tourism season begins around the end of May, so those who want to explore the city without the crowds may want to visit just before June or at the beginning of September while the weather is still warm. There are a few dates that can be extremely busy including Queen’s Day at the end of April, while throughout August many bars and restaurants close as Dutch residents take the month off.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is the primary airport serving Amsterdam and the country’s largest, situated only 9km from the center of Amsterdam. There are currently direct flights to and from Dubai International Airport via Emirates, KLM and Transavia, while those flying from Abu Dhabi can travel with Etihad Airways and KLM. There are also flights to and from other Middle Eastern countries including Doha and Bahrain available.
