Why You Should Visit Armenia
The city of Armenia is one of the most popular for travelers visiting Colombia known for its beautiful scenery, lively culture and heritage sites. Many flock to the city to experience its incredible natural beauty – there are plenty of walking and hiking trails in the region as well as special attractions such as the PANACA theme park home to a variety of fauna and flora. Culture in Armenia is well and truly alive with various festivals and events over the course of the year such as the quirky Yipao parade and the Chapoleras beauty pageant, so there’s always something fun going on for all the family. One of the biggest draws in the region is the Colombian National Coffee Park which offers a fascinating look into one of Colombia’s dominant industries and has plenty of attractions on offer for kids too.
Arriving In Armenia
El Eden International Airport is the primary airport serving Armenia situated just over 10 km outside of the city. The airport itself consists of a single passenger terminal and offers a few basic amenities and facilities to keep you happy. When you have landed at the airport it is possible to catch a bus to travel into the city, although taxis are also available and offer a direct route to your destination. Inside the airport there is a food court area with a couple of snack bars and cafés where you can grab a quick bite to eat, while you can also find duty-free shopping and a couple of retail and souvenir shops available.
If you are looking to book flights from the UAE to Armenia you will not be able to make the journey directly, so you will need to make a stopover somewhere in order to complete the trip. Currently there are no ways to make the trip with a single stopover so you will need to make at least two transfers to make the journey.
Armenia Travel Information
Many nationals including those from the UAE and EU citizens are able to travel to Colombia on a visa free basis for a period of up to 90 days. Remember that Armenia is nine hours behind the UAE so make sure you wind your clocks back as soon as you have arrived. The city itself has a bus network which can allow you to get around without needing your own vehicle, although taxis are very common in the city and are generally affordable.
