Reasons To Visit Diu
The town of Diu is located on Diu Island just off the coast of western India. It's known for many stunning historic buildings alongside beautiful beaches and scenic coastal landscapes. If you enjoy sightseeing then you will want to see some of the historic landmarks in the city such as the Portuguese fort and the colonial buildings in the old town. Alternatively, spend a day relaxing on one of the many beaches in the area – the most popular spot is Nagoa Beach but there are plenty of other options if you want a more secluded beach such as Jalandhar Beach. There are also a few other interesting tourist attractions in and around the town like the Sea Shell Museum and Diu Jail, or consider venturing just outside the town and see the Naida Caves.
Arriving In Diu
Diu Airport is located around 7 km from Diu and currently handles a small selection of flights from Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Travelers looking to fly from the UAE to Diu won’t be able to do so nonstop, but there are direct flights from the UAE to both Ahmedabad and Mumbai which makes it possible to reach Diu with only a single stopover from the UAE.
And if you're planning a stopover, check out our Beginner's guide to Mumbai: places to visit and when to go.
Diu Airport is a small domestic airport offering very little in terms of facilities and amenities, so travelers should come prepared and bring any essentials you absolutely need. When your flight has arrived at the airport you are only a short distance away from the town, so a taxi trip from the airport is affordable for most people.
