Astana International Airport is situated around 15 km from the capital Astana and handles a wide range of international flights including direct flights from the UAE. Travelers based in Dubai will be able to book flights with Air Astana and flydubai, while those coming from Abu Dhabi can make the journey with Etihad Airways. Astana International Airport is made up of two passenger terminals, with one terminal dedicated to international flights and the other to domestic flights. Although the weather in Astana is warm and sunny over the summer with average highs of over 25 degrees from June until August, temperatures rapidly drop and soon get below freezing over the winter, while you can also expect heavy snowfall during this period. Remember that Astana is two hours ahead of the UAE, while the currency you will need in Kazakhstan is the Kazakhstani tenge.
