Where to stay in Dumaguete

The province of Negros Oriental is one of the country's best-kept secrets with its breathtaking waterfalls and delightful islands on the doorstep of its capital city Dumaguete.

The city is the perfect gateway to discover the gems of the province, while its strategic location in the coastal area of the Oriental Negros province makes the other nearby provinces such as Cebu, Bohol and Siquijor easily accessible.

While most of the tourist spots in Dumaguete and around Negros Oriental can be toured without accompaniment, most hotels in the city offer organised tours, which, while more comfortable and less of a hassle are a little more expensive. However, they are often the best way of seeing attractions such as Apo Island.

With Dumaguete being the center of commerce and education, there is no shortage of accommodation with hotels, budget rooms and a few resorts available. The main transportation is the tricycle, while single motorbikes are also numerous and much cheaper. Jeeps and buses are available at their respective terminals to get to other towns.
