Where to stay in Antalya
The Turkish city of Antalya on the southwest coast enjoys a picturesque location on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and is a popular destination for tourists looking to enjoy seafront attractions coupled with traditional Turkish hospitality.
One of the best places to stay is Old Antalya – also known as Kaleici – where many of the classic buildings have been restored but still possess the class and character of the past. It’s a great place to explore by foot so a hotel in the area will certainly have you close to the city’s architectural delights as well as many of the best shopping, dining and entertainment venues.
The beach is also within walking distance and is a great attraction for visitors to Antalya. Lara Beach is a long stretch of sand that affords great views of the craggy mountains in the background, while Antalya Harbor is another popular attraction with cruise ships, yachts and powerboats mooring in the waters of the port.
For history buffs, the nearby ruins of Perge include a Roman bathhouse and an agora, which are worth discovering as is the triumphal arch of Hadrian’s Gate located in the center of the city. To get around, visitors can make use of the public bus system, which is efficient, inexpensive and convenient, or hop on the tramway system, which stops off at many of the city’s tourist attractions, including the Antalya Museum. Getting to and from the airport, however, is only possibly by taxi or private transport. If you are planning to explore outside the city you could consider car rental in Antalya.
