### A truly special stay – history, warmth and five-star comfort
Triabunna Barracks was one of the most memorable places we stayed during our Tasmania trip. It is a beautiful combination of history, thoughtful restoration, genuine hospitality and exceptional comfort.
The quality and attention to detail throughout the accommodation is immediately apparent. Our rooms had clearly been designed with the comfort of guests in mind, and the enormous bathroom was a particular treat, with a wonderful rain shower and large freestanding bath that was incredibly welcoming after a day exploring.
Breakfast was another highlight and incredibly generous, with so much homemade on offer. Fresh eggs from the Barracks' own chickens, homemade bread, coconut yoghurt and poached seasonal fruit — oh my goodness, the fruit! It was all delicious and beautifully presented.
One of my favourite memories was sitting by the fire in the evening with a glass of wine, browsing books about the region and learning more about the history of the Barracks itself. The story of its restoration, which took some six years of painstaking work, is fascinating. Archaeologists were involved during the restoration and items dating back to the 1800s were uncovered along the way. Hearing about the process of bringing this magnificent old building back to life gave us an even greater appreciation of where we were staying.
The interiors complement the history beautifully, including Australian artwork throughout. Nothing feels overdone; it simply feels considered, comfortable and very special.
The location is excellent too. The pub next door was wonderfully welcoming, with lovely food and a great atmosphere, while the jetty is close by, making the Barracks an ideal place to stay if you are heading across to Maria Island.
Our hosts were warm, welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable, not only about the Barracks but also about what to see and experience in this beautiful part of Tasmania. Their genuine enthusiasm for the region added enormously to our stay.
My family loved our time here and we would definitely return one day. If you are travelling through this region, I would wholeheartedly recommend considering Triabunna Barracks. It is unique accommodation with a fascinating story, wonderful hospitality and genuine five-star quality.

Great place to stay with amazing hosts
Great location for the Maria Island Ferry however the hosts made it so much more than that.
The building is immaculate and learning the history from the hosts was a great experience.
If you are lucky enough to be staying be sure order breakfast: great start to the day.

To Hidden Gem
We just spent 2 nights in this absolutely beautiful place. Very warm welcome from hosts Kim and John. They are committed to making your stay as pleasant as possible. They are truly caring. The room we had (The Quarters) is superb with all the comforts desired, sober and elegant furnishings with some high-tech touches. We enjoyed this relaxing stay but what touched us most of all was the incredible kindness of the hosts. We recommend this address which is really a safe value!

Absolutely a memorable stay during our trip to the area. Kim and John are friendly, caring hosts and everything in the Barracks was finely selected and of supreme quality. The place itself is very clean, it is an utmost gem that has every detail from the past carefully brought back to modern, pristine standards,

Marvelous all around.
What a marvelous place to stay and wonderful hosts! They did the remodel and the love shows. Great breakfast.
We stayed the night before and the night after a day on Maria Island, it is a 2 minute walk to the boat dock.
Highly recommend!
