The airport is the busiest in Saudi Arabia and is undergoing an extensive development project to increase its capacity and improve its facilities, projected to be complete in 2018. Jeddah Airport enjoys extensive international connections with a wide range of services available including direct flights from the UAE.
Terminals at Jeddah Airport
Jeddah Airport has three different terminals: North, South and Hajj. The Hajj terminal was built specifically to serve pilgrims undertaking the Hajj each year and can handle 80,000 passengers at the same time.
The North terminal operates flights from a large number of international carriers, whereas the South terminal serves only a few select airlines including Saudia and Flynas. The North and South terminals are located approximately 15 km apart, so be sure to leave ample traveling time if transferring to another flight. There is a shuttle service available between terminals running every 30 minutes as well as taxis to make the trip.
Facilities at Jeddah Airport
As a large and busy international airport, each of the terminals at Jeddah Airport provides ample amenities and facilities for passengers. The South Terminal offers two restaurants as well as an airport hotel for those with early flights or long transfers.
Passengers in the North Terminal will find a restaurant near the entrance as well as a cafeteria after passport control. The Hajj Terminal also provides many amenities including restaurants, markets and currency exchanges.
