Small but nice hotel
Small but nice hotel. Nicely decorated, very clean, extremely friendly and charming staff. Perfect for a short stay.

Solid hotel with limitations
The hotel's location is very central and yet quiet. At least I can say that for the rooms facing the back. There is free parking around the corner. The rooms are clean and tidy. The double room I had, however, would be a bit too small for two people to stay in for more than a few days. When I stayed there in August, it was also very stuffy. There is no air conditioning, only a fan. If the heat doesn't rob you of sleep, it's okay. Otherwise, I would rather avoid the hotel during this time. The breakfast buffet is very good and inexpensive. For that, you have to order and pay for scrambled eggs separately. But that is okay for me. The room rates are also moderate. However, you have to be extremely careful when booking: I had received a double room because no single rooms were available anymore. For that, I had to pay 20.00 EUR more per night. I am not familiar with that from any other hotel where I had to occupy a double room alone. Unfortunately, I probably didn't look closely enough, otherwise I definitely would not have made this deal. Conclusion: Everything very nice, devaluation for missing air conditioning and price surcharge for single use of a double room.

Too hot but otherwise well equipped
The room offers almost everything needed for an overnight stay. The bathroom is as new with a large shower. What is missing is air conditioning and a small fridge. The room was very warm and barely cooled despite the fan and thick curtains. The outside temperature was correspondingly warm. We had “tropical “nights. In the hallway is a fridge with drinks for guests, very pleasant.
Breakfast was good and varied. There is a covered smoking terrace.
Located in the pedestrian zone, the parking is about 100 meters away.
At the reception there was usually a contact person on site, about which general questions about excursions could also be discussed.

Great option in winter, but best to avoid in summer - hot and stuffy rooms
The hotel is in a charming little town close to Salzburg, not far away from the train station. Staff were welcoming and friendly. There is a selection of reasonably-priced cold drinks at reception, which may come in very handy on Sundays when everything is closed, including most of the restaurants in the area. For a winter, or other cool month, stay this place would be perfect, but...
During my stay, the outside temperatures were consistently over 30 C. The room temperature was at least 10 C above the outside temperature as the room received the afternoon sun from about 12 pm to sunset. There was no air conditioning and no block-out curtains (the heavy fabric curtains could use a liner that reflects the sun away from the windows). The hotel has a fly screen, which they call a sun screen. Unfortunately, it's not a sun screen. The little fan did not provide much relief, even when I put it in front of the open window at night. There was also no fridge in the room where one could keep cool drinks or a cold compress. In short, there was no escaping the heat: It was hot outside and it was even hotter inside. I stayed 3 nights and suffered severe heat stress. I only recovered from it a day after leaving that place. My room was also right next to the entrance door to the corridor; each time the door slammed shut, it woke me up. This is not due to the guests staying there, but due to the spring-based locking mechanism that makes it almost impossible to gently close the door by hand. From the second day onwards, staff put a door stopper there, which helped reduce the noise until people removed the door stopper. All up, I was sleep deprived, hot, and exhausted all the time. By the time I left, I was utterly miserable and physically ill. If I had to do it again, I would pay more and stay directly in Salzburg.

Nice hotel - recommended
We used the Stadthotel Freilassing for a visit to Salzburg. It is in an excellent location for people travelling by train, just a few minutes' walk from the train station and in the middle of the city centre.
The room with box-spring bed was very attractive, the bathroom new and spacious. Only the planes flying into Salzburg could spoil the peace and quiet a little. However, this did not bother us and we watched the planes as they landed.
The breakfast the next morning was excellent. Everything you could wish for was there. It was served in a bright and friendly breakfast room on the first floor with a glass facade.
We would love to come back again and will recommend it to others.
