Where to stay in Reykjavik

Modern Reykjavik, the capital and largest city in Iceland, is a place of exciting possibilities surrounded by incredible natural landscapes. As a starting point to this fascinating country, the capital offers plenty to see and do as well as a wide variety of accommodation choices.

From volcano exploration to angling, Iceland has plenty to keep you busy with Reykjavik being the cool capital of it all – although if being cool is the least of your priorities then check out the world-famous Blue Lagoon, Iceland’s famous thermal pool, which is around 45 minutes from the city center and is a true "must-do" Icelandic experience.

There is plenty to do and see in the capital with attractions such as the Hallgrimskirkja Church and the waterfront area worthy of investigation. Exploring Reykjavik is made easier thanks to local bus transportation operation, which provides regular services to and from the city's major attractions. The bus service also offers travel cards which come with associated benefits such as discount at shops and dining outlets. Alternatively, you could consider renting a car in Reykjavik to explore the island at your leisure.

Iceland was the best three days of my life! It was my first solo trip and I absolutely loved it! Driving around the Southern part on my own, visiting otherworldly waterfalls, and seeing the luscious green landscape was truly incredible.
