Stay Here Anytime

An enjoyable, quaint place to stay. Easy parking, great breakfast, clean comfortable rooms with easily accessible and good toilet and bathroom facilities. Nothing was too much trouble for host Dee. Close to the centre of town with WIFI available.

Maclear Manor

What a wonderful stay. The room has everything you could ask for, is spotless and so very well cared for. The garden is a delight. Truly wonderful and so comfortable and homely, thank you so much. I will be back. The caretaker on duty keeps in touch and truly so valuable too. Thank you!

Very disappointing

You arrive at a locked gate. An overworked house manager arrives from another property and gestures from her driver's seat to follow up round the back of the property. The front door of the room is directly off a covered parking area. The room is dull, poorly lit, and the decor old and tired. It is small and cluttered compared to the photos on the website, which were taken with an ultra wide angle lens to give the impression of space. Apart from a shallow cupboard that barely accommodates a small suitcase on its end, everything else has to find space on the floor. The toilet seat is broken, a coat hook on the bathroom door hangs by a single screw. The towels are threadbare. The only positives were the comfy bed and internet reception. If you read the Booking.com site, do not be fooled into thinking breakfast is part of the package -- it is an optional extra for R150 per person. It was the most expensive stay of 11 we visited across South Africa and scored the worst. I don't know why they insist on filling the back rooms with guests when the main lodge was completely empty.

Pet-friendly stay

We were travelling with cats and were placed in a room outside which was perfect for our needs. There was a proper fridge and microwave in the room which also was great as we were doing a one-night stop and had frozen food to keep.

A great place to stay when in the area. A lot of good looking BnBs in the small town - and this one did not disappoint. Has a self catering kithen area. We did not eat here - but ate nearby at the RANCH which was recommended to us - very good service there too.
