Arriving In Damascus

Damascus International Airport is situated roughly 30 km from Damascus and consists of a single terminal. Inside the airport you can find a few places to eat and drink as well as souvenir and gift shops to pick up any last-minute gifts. The easiest way to travel into Damascus once you have landed is to get in a taxi, although there are public buses available if you would prefer.

If you are looking to travel to Damascus from the UAE it is possible to fly out of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. The airlines operating flights from Dubai International Airport are Cham Wings Airlines and Syrian Air, while Syrian Air also provides flights out of Abu Dhabi International Airport and Sharjah International Airport.

Damascus Travel Information

All nationals including those from the UAE will have to arrange for a visa first before flying to Syria. Despite the fact that visa laws in Syria previously allowed UAE nationals to enter the country without a visa, you should still speak with your local authorities to make sure you have all the right arrangements in place. In Damascus the weather gets very hot over the summer with average highs of around 37 degrees, although you may need some warm clothing if you visit during the winter period. Although Damascus does have its own network of buses, taxis are a more common sight and may be an easier way to get around the city.
