What is the Jet Airways baggage allowance?
The good news is Jet Airways offers a free baggage allowance regardless of what class you’re flying in. The bad news is it can be complicated to work out how much baggage you’re entitled to take.
One of the factors affecting the allowance is which Jet Airways’ fare you book: Deal, Saver, Classic or Flex. Not all fares are available in every class so do your homework before you decide.
Your free baggage allowance and excess baggage charges will depend on what fare you choose, what class you book and whether you’re a member of the JetPrivilege loyalty program. Here are two examples:
Dubai to Mumbai in Economy (Deal fare): 30kg as standard, 40kg for Silver members, 45kg for Gold members and 50kg for Platinum members.

How to maximize your Jet Airways baggage allowance and avoid excess baggage charges
Join the club
Sign up to become a JetPrivilege member and you’ll get an extra baggage allowance for your Jet Airways booking, regardless of whether you’re flying in Economy, Première or First class. The cabin baggage allowance for Platinum and Gold members is 10kg (that’s 3kg more than the usual allowance).
Extra checked baggage allowance: if you reach JetPrivilege Platinum status you’ll get an extra 15kg baggage allowance in Economy and 20kg in Première Class on flights within India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Gold members get an extra 10kg in Economy and 15kg in Première; Silver members get 5kg in Economy and 10kg in Première.
On international flights the Jet Airways free baggage allowance increases even more!
Silver members – an extra 10kg or one piece of luggage at 23kg in Economy, and 10kg or one piece of luggage at 32kg in Première or First Class.
Gold members – an extra 15kg or one piece of luggage at 23kg in Economy, and 15kg or one piece of luggage at 32kg in Première or First Class.
Platinum members – an extra 20kg or one piece of luggage at 23kg in Economy, and 20kg or one piece of luggage at 32kg in Première and First Class.
Of course you’ll also get the other usual perks such as lounge access, priority boarding and a dedicated check in.
Take note of the extras
Jet Airways allows passengers to take a few extra items on the plane as well as their normal hand luggage bag. These include: a handbag, reading material for the journey, an infant carry basket, and an overcoat or blanket. If you want to take a book or two, take them as your reading material and save the weight and space in your hand baggage bag!
Buy wearable luggage
Clothing companies have cottoned on to how much people care about their luggage allowances when they’re traveling. There’s now such a thing as ‘wearable luggage’, which means you can get extra kilos without breaking the Jet Airways baggage rules. The Stuffa jacket can carry an extra 5kg of clothing in it, meaning your total cabin luggage allowance has magically increased from 7kg to 12kg!
