Where to stay in Udaipur
To be found in the western state of Rajasthan in India, Udaipur is the former capital of the Mewar Kingdom with a history stretching back almost 500 years.
The most popular attraction in the city is without doubt City Palace, which was built in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh II. Visitors are entranced by the magnificent complex of palaces, courtyards and gardens to be found at City Palace, which overlooks Lake Pichola and features a blend of Chinese, European and Medieval architecture.
City Palace is simply magnificent in every respect, as too is the area of Lake Pichola itself. Surrounded by hills, temples and palaces, the lake is a tourist attraction in its own right with boat trips providing a great way to view the city, particularly at night.
Other locations worth visiting are The Royal Vintage Car Museum, the Jagdish Temple - Udaipur's largest temple – and Bagore Ki Haveli, the former residence of Maharana Shakti Singh of Bagore.
Udaipur has more than enough forms of public transport. Cabs are available ranging from basic to luxury and can be used for simply getting around the city or for venturing further afield. Auto rickshaws are also freely available, while Udaipur’s relatively small size means hiring a bicycle to get around is also a fun option.
With its majestic design, this five-star hotel offers luxurious rooms with the very best in guest amenities. Food lovers will enjoy the signature ‘Padmini’ restaurant, which excels in Rajasthani cuisine while also offering Asian and Continental fare.
Located in the heart of the city, the four-star Radisson is within close proximity of both the Bapu Bazaar and the Ahar Museum. A fitness center, spa, steam room and outdoor swimming pool are all available for guests, while the two restaurants and 24-hour room service will keep you refreshed.
To be found by Lake Pichola, the three-star Raasleela is close to Bagore-ki-Haveli Museum, Lake Palace and Gangaur Ghat, while other attractions such as the City Palace and Jag Niwas are also nearby. Guests in the eight rooms can take advantage of the complimentary breakfast, while tour and transport assistance is also available.

big City, at the lake realy beautiful view, of course very touristic, good to spend some days,
This is a beautiful and bustling historic town on the shores of a lake. In the center of the lake is an ancient palace you can visit. This palace was featured in the James Bond movie "Octapussy," which, importantly, was *not* the film that inspired Donald Trump's recent quotes about how to behave around women. Great art and shopping here. Stay in a place with a rooftop restaurant.
Tagged as the "most romantic spot on the continent of India", Udaipur is very charming with its lakes, palaces, forts, havelis, gardens and romantic backdrops. Today, that label is becoming slightly less convincing as a result of mass tourism but Udaipur is probably still the most beautiful and romantic city in Rajasthan. Udaipur was also a film location for the James Bond film, Octopussy.
The lake palaces are insane here. One of the most beautiful places I've been in all of India.
