Is there a Saudia Airlines dress code?
The airline is Saudi Arabia’s national carrier so we would recommend all travelers err on the side of caution when it comes to what you wear when you fly. A stricter dress-code was issued by the airline in mid-2017, but was later removed. The current advice, as per the airline’s website, is to dress “inline with public taste or not offensive to other passengers”.
The airline also doesn’t serve or allow passengers to drink alcohol on board so don’t buy any Duty Free before you fly. It also warns passengers that alcohol is forbidden in Saudi Arabia itself.
Can I carry holy water on the plane?
Yes, Saudia Airlines will allow you to carry a 1 gallon package of Zamzam from the Sogia factory. It must contain no more than 5l of water per passenger and be checked into the hold. If you’re departing from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah or Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz Airport in Madinah it is excluded from your free baggage allowance. However, it will be part of your Saudia Airlines luggage allowance if you’re flying from other airports in the country.

Traveling with renal failure on Saudia Airlines
Saudia Airlines has a specific policy for people with renal (kidney) failure. If you need to travel with dialysis equipment you should present a copy of your medical report, stamped by the hospital and get it approved by the airline before you fly. You’ll be entitled to three extra bags in all classes, weighing 32kg each.
As a general rule it’s always worth carrying a prescription and doctor’s note if you have prescribed medicines in your luggage, especially if you’re not sure of the rules in the country you’re traveling to.

How to make the most of your baggage allowance
Buy extra baggage before you fly
If you think you may go over your Saudia Airlines baggage allowance you should buy extra weight online in advance, as it could save you a lot of money. An extra bag at the airport will cost you more than if you book it in advance online.

Make the most of the extras
Saudia Airlines allows all passengers to take on an extra ladies’ handbag or purse, overcoat, camera and umbrella. We know these might not be top of your packing list but there’s no point trying to stuff a warm coat into your hand baggage if you don’t need to; save the space for other essentials instead.
Use the infant baggage allowance
If you’ve ever traveled with kids you’ll know how much packing and baggage it involves. And while it can be a pain to carry an extra hold bag around the airport, it makes sense to make the most of the infant allowance rather than stuffing your own hand luggage bag with diapers and baby food. When traveling with an infant on Saudia Airlines you’re entitled to carry infant food for the flight, and an infant carrying basket plus a collapsible stroller or seat. You also get 23kg of baggage on an infant ticket.

Join the frequent flyer program
Sign up to Saudia Airline’s Alfursan frequent flyer program and earn points/miles as you fly. The more miles you have, the higher the Alfursan tier and the more benefits you’ll get. There are three membership tiers – Blue, Silver and Gold. You’ll earn miles faster by flying in Business/First classes, signing up family members, and via special promotions from the airline and its commercial partners. If you reach Silver or Gold Alfursan status you’ll be entitled to an extra piece of luggage weighing a maximum 32kg if you’re traveling in Business/First class, and 23kg if you’re traveling in Economy.
