The island of Guernsey is the largest of the Channel Islands offering many memorable things to do whether it’s exploring the island’s museums, enjoying a day out with all the family or taking in the breathtaking natural scenery. The island has its fair share of significant historical landmarks like the Castle Cornet at St Peter’s Port, while you can also understand the heritage of Guernsey in greater detail in its various museums like the Guernsey Museum. Families traveling with children can visit The Aquarium which is curiously located inside German WWII tunnels, or you may simply want to spend your days out in nature on one of the coastal trails going around the island.

Arriving In Guernsey

Guernsey Airport is located less than 5 km away from St. Peter Port and primarily handles flights from UK destinations as well as a few routes from around Europe. When you have landed at the airport you can find buses which will be able to get you around the island, although taxis are also readily available if you would prefer. During your time at the airport you will find a basic range of amenities including a couple of cafés as well as duty-free shopping, while the airport also provides additional amenities including complimentary Wi-Fi, internet stations and a children’s play area.

If you are looking to catch flights from the UAE to Guernsey you won’t be able to make the journey without a stopover. However, Guernsey Airport has regular flights from a couple of airports with direct flights from the UAE including London Gatwick and Manchester, so UAE travelers can make the trip with only one stopover.

Guernsey Travel Information

In Guernsey the same visa laws as the UK apply, meaning UAE nationals can apply online for an electronic visa waiver before the journey. In Guernsey you can expect relatively warm temperatures over the summer with average highs of around 20 degrees, although be prepared for cold weather if you are visiting over the winter. Although Guernsey is served by a network of buses, you may prefer to rent a car at the airport once you have arrived.
