The town of Paro is one of the most beautiful settlements in Bhutan. It's known for its many different religious and historical landmarks, while it is also renowned for its stunning natural beauty which makes it an excellent destination for lovers of the great outdoors. Perhaps the most popular attraction in the region is the famous “Tiger’s Nest” Taktsang Monastery located high up in the mountains, although there are plenty of other lesser-known gems like the Drakhapo Complex and Rinpung Dzong. Those with a curiosity for new cultures may want to spend a day exploring the National Museum of Bhutan, or visit during the spring period in February-March to experience the Paro Tshechu Festival.

Arriving In Paro

Paro Airport is the only international airport in Bhutan, situated 6 km away from the center of Paro. Passengers looking to catch flights from the UAE to Paro won’t find any direct flights available so you will need to make a stopover in order to reach Paro. Fortunately the airport has decent connections across the region, enabling UAE-based travelers to reach Paro with just one transfer.

Paro Airport offers all of the essential amenities and facilities you would need, so you will be able to find a couple of places to eat and shop on site to meet your basic needs. Once your flight has touched down at the airport, you can hop in a taxi just outside of the terminal to reach your destination.

In Paro you can generally expect warm weather over the summer with average highs in the low to mid-20s from May until September, although there is also plenty of rainfall during this period.
