Arriving In Ulaanbaatar
Chinggis Khaan International Airport is the busiest airport in Mongolia located less than 20 km away from Ulaanbaatar. The airport has been around for over 50 years but is scheduled to be replaced by a newer airport projected to open in 2019. If you are looking to travel from the UAE to Ulaanbaatar you will not find any direct flights available as there are no airlines offering nonstop flights. However, the airport has plenty of connections in the region which makes it possible to fly from the UAE to Ulaanbaatar with only one transfer, making the journey a lot more convenient.
Browse through duty-free shopping at the airport to pick up some cheap goods, or enjoy a meal at the on-site restaurant before catching your flight. In addition to this, the airport offers travelers free Wi-Fi so you can surf the web to help pass the time, while there are also a couple of airport lounges available if you would rather wait in more exclusive surroundings. As a UAE national traveling to Mongolia you’ll have to make a visa application first before your journey. Be advised that it gets extremely cold in Ulaanbaatar with freezing temperatures and snowfall over the winter, while it warms up to pleasant temperatures over summer with average highs in the mid-20s from June until August. You will need to put your clocks forward by four hours when you arrive in Mongolia to get on local time, while the currency you will need in the country is the Mongolian togrog.
