Traveling to Agra
Agra Airport, officially known as Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Airport, is a small airport near Agra currently handling just a single flight schedule from Khajuraho. If you are looking to travel from the UAE to Agra, it will not be possible to make the journey directly. Instead, you’ll need to make a connecting flight in order to complete the journey to Agra from the UAE, with the most convenient option involving transferring at Jaipur Airport.
Agra Airport is a single terminal airport that primarily operates as a military airport but also handles a small range of domestic flights. There is very little available at the airport in terms of facilities and amenities, although you can find a couple of shops and places to eat to get all the essentials you would need. Once your flight has touched down at the airport, there are metered taxis available just outside of the terminal to take you to your destination, while many hotels in the area operate their own shuttle bus services.

The city of Agra is one of the most popular travel destinations in India due to the many unique historical landmarks in the area such as the world-famous Taj Mahal, while the city is also home to a wealth of lesser known sites which are well worth visiting. There are three UNESCO World Heritage Sites in and around Agra which you will definitely want to see – the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri. After a day of exploring the many historical landmarks, be sure to relax in one of the beautiful gardens in the city like the Mehtab Bagh Botanical Gardens, while you won’t be disappointed by the many thriving shops and marketplaces to complement the excellent selection of restaurants across the city.
Agra Travel Information
When you are traveling to India as a UAE national, you can go online before your journey and apply for an e-visa which will allow you to stay in India for up to 60 days. However, it is worth noting that not all airports accept e-visa entries so check beforehand. In Agra the weather gets very hot between April and June with average highs exceeding 40 degrees, while it still stays fairly warm for the rest of the year. However, be advised that there is a brief rainy season in the region which begins in July and ends in September. The time zone in Agra is an hour and 30 minutes ahead of the UAE, while the currency you will need during your stay is the Indian rupee.
