Algeria’s capital is a city with a wealth of history and many modern attractions to suit people of all tastes. Be sure to check out some of the historical landmarks within the city including the UNESCO listed Casbah where you will find many of Algiers’ most ancient buildings like the El Kebir Mosque. Another excellent place to go during your visit to the capital is down to the waterfront area which is full of life, or spend the day browsing through a bustling market or boutique shop to bring home some memorable keepsakes. As the capital of Algeria, the majority of the country’s best museums, art galleries and cultural institutions are located in Algiers, giving you plenty of things to do both day and night.
Arriving In Algiers
Houari Boumediene Airport is the primary airport serving Algiers and also the busiest airport in Algeria located around 15 km from the capital. The airport is set across three passenger terminals, with international flights handled at Terminal 1. If you are looking to book flights from the UAE to Algiers, it is possible to fly directly out of Dubai. Currently the two airlines providing flights from the UAE to Algiers are Emirates (Emirates baggage allowance rules) and Air Algerie, with all flights departing from Dubai International Airport, the main airport in Dubai.
At the airport you will find a varied selection of services and facilities to help pass the time. There are a selection of cafés and restaurants on site as well as duty-free shopping in Terminal 1, while you can also connect to the airport's Wi-Fi network for a surcharge. When your flight has arrived at the airport you can find buses available to take you into the city, with the journey taking around 40 minutes. Additionally, you may prefer the convenience of flagging down a taxi just outside of the terminal building. Alternatively, you could rent a car at Algiers airport.

Many nationals including those from the UAE will need to make a visa application first before flying to Algeria. In Algiers the weather gets hot over the summer with average highs exceeding 30 degrees between July and September, while over the winter temperatures remain relatively mild but can get chilly in the evenings. In Algeria the currency used is the Algerian Dinar, while Algiers is three hours behind the UAE so don’t forget to set your clocks to local time when you land.
