Why You Should Visit Cologne
Once the center of Western civilization in the medieval ages as the biggest city of the Holy Roman Empire, Cologne is a city teeming with history and perhaps best known for its stunning Gothic cathedral. Although Cologne is renowned for its many historic landmarks, it has developed a reputation as one of the more liberal cities in Germany where you can enjoy many bohemian neighborhoods, street murals and festivals. One of the best festivals in the city is the Cologne Carnival in February with a Christmas theme, while you can also find many interesting artistic events throughout the city. Cologne is noted for its excellent museums and art galleries which are well worth visiting like the Museum Ludwig modern art museum and the Wallraf-Richartz Museum with its classical art. Be sure to check out some of the city’s beautiful parks and walkways along the river where you can take a serene walk or enjoy a picnic with all the family.
