Diu Airport is a small domestic airport offering very little in terms of facilities and amenities, so travelers should come prepared and bring any essentials you absolutely need. When your flight has arrived at the airport you are only a short distance away from the town, so a taxi trip from the airport is affordable for most people.
Reasons to Visit Diu
The town of Diu is located on Diu Island just off the coast of western India. It's known for stunning historic buildings alongside beautiful beaches and scenic coastal landscapes. If you enjoy sightseeing then you will want to see some of the historic landmarks in the city such as the Portuguese fort and the colonial buildings in the old town. Alternatively, spend a day relaxing on one of the many beaches in the area – the most popular spot is Nagoa Beach but there are plenty of other options if you want a more secluded beach such as Jalandhar Beach. There are also a few other interesting tourist attractions in and around the town like the Sea Shell Museum and Diu Jail, or consider venturing just outside the town and see the Naida Caves.
Diu Travel Information
UAE nationals flying to India can go online and apply for an e-visa which allows you to stay in the country for up to 60 days. In Diu temperatures can get very hot from April to June with average highs of around 40 degrees, while just after this there is a brief rainy season from July until September. If you do plan on visiting over the winter from November until February, temperatures can get surprisingly cold in the evenings so you will need some warm clothing with you. In order to get on local time in Diu you will need to put your clocks forward by one hour and 30 minutes, while you can generally expect prices in the city for things like dining out and transportation to be considerably cheaper compared to the UAE.
