Pakyong Airport is a relatively new airport having only opened up in September 2018, with flights beginning a month later in October. Due to its very high elevation, the airport has recently ceased commercial operations due to the unreliable local weather conditions. Flights were previously handled by SpiceJet but have been discontinued until further notice as of June 2019. The airport itself is housed within a single passenger terminal which can handle up to 100 passengers at a time. The airport has been noted as an engineering marvel due to the difficult terrain in the region. Amenities and facilities at the airport are fairly limited but you’ll find all of the essentials including a couple of snack bars and convenience stores.

Arriving in Pakyong

Upon arrival in Pakyong you will be able to find local taxis and autorickshaw services to reach your destination. Taxi fares in the area tend to be fixed, so be sure to agree upon a price with your driver before setting off. The airport does not currently benefit from any public transportation links, so you’ll need to rely on a taxi to travel.
