Vientiane Airport, also known as Wattay International Airport, is located just 3 km from Vientiane and handles a range of regional flights. If you are looking to book flights from the UAE to Vientiane, you won’t be able to find any direct flights available. However, the airport has extensive connections in the region, so UAE-based travelers can make the journey with only a single transfer.

Vientiane Airport is made up of two passenger terminals including the recently built terminal dedicated to international flights. Inside the airport you will find all of the basic amenities and facilities you would need, although the options are fairly limited. As well as a restaurant, there are a few different food stalls and snack bars located around the airport, while you can also find a small selection of shops alongside duty-free shopping. Getting from the airport into the city is a quick and easy journey which is possible by bus or taxi. Catching a public bus is best for those on a budget, while you can pay for a taxi inside the airport to get a fair price.

UAE nationals catching flights to Laos will be able to get a visa upon arrival which allows you to stay in the country for up to 30 days. In Vientiane temperatures are warm all year round with average highs from 28 to 34 degrees, with the hottest time of year falling between March and May. Be advised that there is a prolonged rainy season in the region which begins in May and continues until September, when it rains more often than not. You will need to put your clocks forward by three hours to get on local time in Laos, while prices in the country for essentials such as travel, eating out and accommodation are a lot cheaper compared to the UAE.
