Flying to Jalgaon

Jalgaon Airport is situated just 6 km from the center of Jalgaon and was built back in 1973. The airport has since undergone expansion and renovation work and has been selected by the authorities to benefit from further development. The terminal building itself is fairly small and only has the capacity to handle around 50 passengers at a time. It is not currently possible to fly to Jalgaon directly from the UAE and the airport doesn’t handle any regular services at this moment in time.

Arriving in Jalgaon

It is advisable to prearrange transportation before catching your flight as there is no guarantee of taxi availability once you have arrived in Jalgaon. However, usually local taxis and auto-rickshaw services will be available outside of the terminal. Alternatively, you can get in touch with your hotel or accommodation and check if they are able to provide a transfer for you. Public transportation is lacking at the airport so you will have to make your own way to your destination instead.

The city of Jalgaon is nestled high up in the north of Maharashtra and is nicknamed by locals as “Banana Village” due to its close proximity to local banana farms. There are plenty of interesting landmarks around the city including the beautiful Ajanta Caves around 50 km away and the fascinating Gandhi Teerth Museum. Be sure to check out some of the scenic banana plantations in the region or enjoy a day out at Aryan Park which offers fun activities like boating and animal watching. Alternatively, outdoor lovers can get out of the city and enjoy hiking and trekking at Patna Devi.

Before flying to India, UAE nationals will be able to apply online for an e-visa which allows stays of up to 60 days. The weather in Jalgaon gets very hot during the summer with temperatures on a similar level to the UAE, so you may prefer visiting during the cooler winter period. The cost of living in the city is significantly lower than prices in the UAE, so you won’t need a large budget for an enjoyable time. Remember that the time zone in India is an hour 30 minutes ahead of the UAE and the currency you will need is the Indian rupee.
