Juba is the capital of South Sudan situated along the White Nile river, with the city known for being the world’s newest capital having been inaugurated in 2011. Juba has expanded rapidly in recent years owing to its new status, with many new restaurants, bars and clubs opening up to cater to the growing multinational community. The city’s location along the river opens up a few possibilities for travelers with boat trips and fishing trips particularly popular. You can also go on a safari trip out in the wilderness, with Nimule Park one of the best places to go to see some of the wildlife living in the country.
Arriving In Juba
Juba Airport is located just 5 km from central Juba and handles a range of international flights including direct flights from the UAE. Passengers traveling from the UAE to Juba will be able to book direct flights from Dubai. Currently flydubai is the sole airline offering flights on this route, with all flights departing out of Dubai International Airport.
Juba Airport is a very small airport set within a single terminal with very basic amenities and facilities, so you will want to bring everything you need with you to the airport. Other than a small cafeteria area offering refreshments, the airport is home to very little else in terms of facilities. Before you catch your flight to Juba you should pre-arrange transportation as you are unlikely to find any reliable mode of transport once you arrive.

UAE nationals will have to make a visa application before traveling to South Sudan, so make sure you do this with plenty of time to spare before your flight. In Juba the weather is hot for most of the year with average highs reaching up to 38 degrees from January until March. Prices in Juba can be surprisingly high for imported goods, but you will find essentials such as travel and accommodation are a lot cheaper compared to the UAE. You will need to put your clocks back by 1 hour to get on local time in South Sudan
