Arriving In Kona
Kona International Airport, known in full as Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport, is located just over 10 km from the center of Kailua Kona and primarily handles domestic flights alongside a few international flights. If you are looking to travel from the UAE to Kona you will not be able to travel directly as there are no airlines providing nonstop flights, but it will be possible to make the journey with only a single transfer.
Kona International Airport is comprised of three passenger terminals and offers a decent selection of amenities and facilities to meet the needs of travelers. There are a couple of restaurants and cafés available for hungry travelers alongside a few basic shops to pick up any last-minute travel essentials. You can also find an airport lounge on site offering luxurious surroundings and additional amenities to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. When your flight has arrived at the airport, you can find metered taxis available just outside of the airport, while many hotels and resorts in the region will provide their own shuttle bus services. Alternatively, you could consider renting a car in Kona.

As a UAE national traveling to the United States, you’ll have to make a visa application so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to do so in advance of your flight. In Kona temperatures remain relatively consistent over the course of the year with average highs between 27 to 30 degrees, with the hottest and driest time of year falling between June and October. Don’t forget that Kona is a whopping 14 hours behind the UAE, while you will need the United States dollar during your time in Hawaii.
