Arriving In Malawi

The two main airports in Malawi are Lilongwe International Airport and Chileka International Airport. If you are looking to travel from the UAE to Malawi, you will not be able to fly directly as there are no airlines providing nonstop flights. However, both of the country’s main airports have regular connections to airports handling direct flights from the UAE, so travelers based in the UAE can fly to Malawi with only a single transfer.

At Lilongwe International Airport you will find all of the amenities and facilities you would need including a few dining and drinking establishments alongside duty-free shopping. When you have touched down at the airport, hopping in a taxi is your best bet to travel into the city, with the journey taking around half an hour. Chileka International Airport is a small airport and offers very little in terms of facilities and amenities, so make sure you bring everything essential you need with you. While there are taxis available once you have touched down, you can also catch local buses if you are on a tight budget.
