Salalah is the second largest city in Oman situated on the southern coast of the country. A beautiful coastal city, Salalah is popular with both Omani and travelers who come to see its spectacular natural sights and explore its exciting outdoor opportunities. The city itself is full of life and offers much to do such as wandering through bustling souqs or seeing the splendor of the royal palace up close. The region is famous for its Khareef monsoon season which falls between July and September as the landscape flourishes with lush vegetation, making it a popular summer getaway. There are many things to do in Salalah for adventurous types owing to its untouched terrain, with many pristine beaches, waterfalls and coastal cliffs just waiting to be explored. Modern visitors will find that there are plenty of opportunities to shop and eat, especially at the modern Salalah Gardens Mall which offers many international brands and excellent restaurants.

When to Visit Salalah

The busiest period in Salalah is undoubtedly during the Khareef monsoon season between July and September as the rains bring lush greenery and vegetation which is something of a rarity in the region. The weather in Salalah remains pleasantly warm all year round, although temperatures do become a little cooler between November and February for those who want to avoid the heat. While it may be more difficult to find cheap flights to Salalah during the popular Khareef season, you can always find excellent rates if you book early enough.

The main gateway into Salalah is Salalah International Airport, located only 5km from the city.
