Bahla Fort is one of the country’s finest forts that has been granted UNESCO World Heritage status and originates from the 13th century.

Those interested in further exploring Oman’s history won’t want to miss visiting one of the many museums to be found in Muscat including the National Museum and the Omani French Museum. Active travelers and adventurers will find the Omani landscape the perfect place to explore with its rugged mountain and rolling desert dunes. Oman is also known for being the breeding place of many sea turtles which has made turtle watching one of the country’s most unique attractions.

Most of the flights to Oman land at Muscat International Airport, although Salalah Airport also operates international flights in the region. Muscat International Airport is situated 32km from central Muscat and is the main hub of Oman Air, the national carrier of the country. A number of cheap flights to Oman are provided by numerous airlines from destinations around the world. Most citizens will require a visa upon arrival in Oman, although nationals from a select number of countries including UAE and Qatar are able to enter visa-free.

When to Visit Oman

Oman enjoys warm weather all year round and experiences pleasant winters where temperatures can reach cool levels at night. Summer temperatures can become very hot at peak times of the day between June and August, which is not ideal for people looking to stay out in the sun. Visiting in the Spring or Autumn may be ideal for those who will be traveling around the country extensively.
