Why You Should Visit Tashkent

Tashkent is the capital of Uzbekistan with ancient origins, although much of the city has been rebuilt over the past century and now boasts a unique blend of ancient and modern landmarks. Much of the city’s old town still remains and boasts a unique charm – take a stroll through the authentic Chorsu Bazaar marketplace or see some of the beautiful works of architecture like the Tellya Sheikh Mosque. In the city you will find many excellent museums which explore Tashkent’s eventful past, one of the finest of which is the History Museum of the People of Uzbekistan. There are also many top cultural institutions in the city where you can catch a musical or theatrical performance, or spend the day browsing through the city’s numerous art galleries like the Tashkent Gallery of Modern Art.

Arriving In Tashkent

Tashkent International Airport is located just over 10 km away from the city center of Tashkent and is the primary international airport serving Uzbekistan. The airport is comprised of two passenger terminals, with Terminal 2 dedicated to international flights. Inside the airport you will find all of the essential amenities you would need including a couple of dining and drinking choices, duty-free shopping and free Wi-Fi to help you get online.

Passengers looking to book flights from the UAE to Tashkent will be able to make the journey out of Dubai. Currently the only airline serving this route is Uzbekistan Airways, with all flights departing from Dubai International Airport, the primary airport serving Dubai.

Tashkent Travel Information

Although some nationals will be able to enter Uzbekistan on a visa free basis, UAE nationals will need to apply for a visa first before flying. The weather in the city can get hot over the summer with average highs of around 35 degrees between June and August, although be prepared for the cold if you’re visiting over the winter when temperatures can often drop below freezing and snowfall is fairly frequent. Tashkent has its own metro system as well as buses and trams services which enable travelers to easily get around.
