Airport Information - Arriving
Dubai International Airport is the main airport in Dubai comprised of three passenger terminals. Once you have landed at the airport you can conveniently make your way into central Dubai on the Dubai Metro which is connected to both Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, although you can just as easily hop in a taxi to reach your destination directly. Flydubai operate via a shuttle bus linking Terminal 2 to Terminals 1 and 3. Many visitors to the UAE rent a car. While you are at the airport you can look forward to a wide choice of places to eat and drink serving up everything from high-end cuisine to fast food. Additional amenities available at the airport include free Wi-Fi, indoor gardens and even sleeping pods for weary travelers.
Airport Information - Departing
Sofia Airport is the busiest airport in Bulgaria located 10km from the center of Sofia. You can use public transport to get to the airport either on the Sofia Metro Line 1 (Red) or by bus, although the short distance to the airport from the city makes taxis affordable. The airport is home to two passenger terminals, with flights to Dubai based at the newer Terminal 2. The airport offers a broad selection of places to eat and drink whether it’s somewhere to have a quick snack or sit down with a hot meal, while there are also plenty of shops available including duty-free shops to pick up everything you need before your flight.
What to Expect in Dubai
In Dubai the weather is much hotter compared to what you are used to in Sofia and stays that way for most of the year, although you can visit over the winter between December and February if you would prefer temperatures to be cooler. Most EU citizens (not including the UK) are able to enter Dubai without needing a visa, so there’s no need to worry about getting one before making the trip. There are plenty of hotels in Dubai catering for every budget. Dubai is 1 hour ahead of Sofia so don’t forget to set your clocks to local time when you arrive.
