Traveling to Srinagar
Srinagar Airport, also known as Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport, is situated 12 km from Srinagar and primarily handles domestic flights from around India. Those looking to travel from the UAE to Srinagar will need to make a transfer somewhere in India as there are no direct flights available. However, it is possible to make the trip with only one transfer as the airport has connections all across India.

Srinagar Airport is housed within a single passenger terminal and offers a small range of amenities, so you will find all of the essentials you would expect. There are a couple of restaurants and cafés in the airport for hungry travelers, while you will also find a few souvenir stores available. As well as this, the airport provides travelers with free Wi-Fi for up to half an hour. When you have arrived at the airport there are public buses available if you want to save on money and avoid paying for a private taxi.

In Srinagar you can expect warm and pleasant summers with average highs of around 30 degrees from June until August, while it gets surprisingly cold over the winter and can drop below freezing at times. The local time zone is an hour and 30 minutes ahead of the UAE, while prices in the city for basics like transportation and accommodation will tend to be a lot cheaper compared to the UAE.
