Dubai International Airport is the primary international gateway into Dubai and is the busiest airport in the world, handling 80 million passengers a year. Emirates offers the only direct flights from Barcelona to Dubai via Dubai International Airport and not Al Maktoum International Airportt, the country’s second airport. Emirates fly to and from Terminal 3.

Airport Information - Arriving

Dubai International Airport is a large, modern airport known for its huge variety of amenities and facilities to ensure passengers have everything they need. At the airport you can browse through the latest designer and luxury brands or pick up some cheap duty free goods, while there are also many different places to eat and drink whether it’s world-class cuisine or cheap eats you’re after. The airport hasf three terminals - while Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 are connected to the Dubai Metro network, you will need to use the free shuttle bus to get to and from Terminal 2. The quickest way to reach central Dubai is on the Dubai Metro, although you can easily find taxis outside any terminal if you are looking for a direct mode of transport to your destination.

Airport Information - Departing

Barcelona-El Prat Airport has two passenger terminals - the newest terminal is Terminal 1 which opened in 2009, while Terminal 2 is dedicated mostly to low-cost carriers. Be advised that the terminals are located 4km apart, although there is a free shuttle bus service connecting the two if you need to transfer. At the airport you can browse through a variety of shops whether its designer stores, duty free shopping or basic travel stores for all your essentials. In addition to this, the airport also boasts a wide selection of places to eat and drink whether its cafes or restaurants you’re after.

What to Expect in Dubai

In Dubai the weather is comparatively hotter than Barcelona and it stays that way all year round. Many nationals including those from EU nations are permitted to enter the UAE and obtain a visa on arrival. There are plenty of great hotel options in Dubai. Be advised that Dubai is 2 hours ahead of Barcelona so remember to put your clocks forward.
