Airport Information - Arriving

Suvarnabhumi Airport is Thailand’s busiest airport located 25km outside of central Bangkok. The airport operates most of the country’s international flights including its long-haul routes. As a popular and modern airport opened up in 2006, all the amenities passengers could possibly need are available including a wide selection of shops and places to eat and drink. Extensive duty free shopping can also be found at the airport for those who want to pick up some cheap gifts for friends. The airport is actually comprised of a single terminal which is extremely sizeable and estimated to be the world’s largest terminal building. The quickest way to get into central Bangkok from the airport is by using the Airport Rail Link, taking only around 25 minutes.

Don Mueang International Airport is Bangkok’s second airport dedicated primarily to low-cost domestic and regional flights. Believed to be one of the world’s oldest international airports, Don Mueang International Airport recently benefited from extensive renovations which were completed in 2007 to boost its facilities up to modern standards. The airport is situated around 30km from the center of Bangkok and is linked to the city by taxi or public train. There is also a free shuttle bus service running between Don Mueang International Airport and Suvarnabhumi Airport. The airport offers a good selection of amenities to travelers including many places to eat, drink and shop.

Airport Information - Departing

Dubai International Airport is the busiest airport in the world in terms of international passenger traffic handling over 80 million travelers a year. At the airport there is a wide selection of amenities and facilities to enjoy with everything from designer stores, duty free shopping and luxurious airport lounges available. You can also select from many places to eat and drink with everything from high-end restaurant to fast food available, or you can relax in a café with a hot drink while you wait for your flight. The airport has three passenger terminals which are all relatively easy to transfer between. Getting between Terminals 1 and 3 is possible on the Dubai Metro, although you will need to hop on the free shuttle bus at the airport to reach Terminal 2.

Al Maktoum International Airport is Dubai’s newest airport that is projected to significantly boost visitors to the country. While it is not yet operating anywhere near full capacity, flight routes are always opening up by the year as the airport increases its capacity. There are flights from Dubai International Airport to Bangkok but none coming from Al Maktoum International Airport as of yet. However, as operations are slowly increasing at Al Maktoum International Airport there is every chance that new routes to Bangkok will open up in the future.

What to Expect in Bangkok

The weather in Bangkok stays hot all year round and also experiences a couple of rainy seasons in May and between September and October. Rainfall is minimal between December and April, so many choose to visit during this period when the chances of getting caught in the rain are slim. Bangkok has benefited from new public transportation networks in recent years which have made it much easier to get around without a car.
