Airport Information - Arriving
Ercan International Airport is a relatively small airport but still offers all the basic facilities and amenities you would expect. At the airport you can find a couple cafés where you are able to enjoy something to eat and drink, while duty-free shopping is also available if you want to pick up some cheap goods before continuing your journey. The airport also provides free Wi-Fi and is home to the Bosphore CIP Lounge which allows all travelers to enter for a fee on the door. There are public buses available once you have arrived at the airport, while metered taxis can also take you to your destination just outside the arrivals section. If you plan to explore the area you could also consider renting a car in Ercan.
Airport Information - Departing
Istanbul Ataturk Airport is the main airport in Istanbul located roughly 25 km outside of the city. Getting to the airport is easy as it is linked to the Metro network, although there are also public buses available if you would prefer. The airport is made up of two passenger terminals and offers a wide range of amenities and facilities to keep travelers happy. You can find many world-class shops including duty-free shopping or enjoy a meal or a drink at one of many restaurants and cafés. The airport also provides free Wi-Fi for up to two hours and offers plenty of other facilities such as massages, hairdressing and numerous airport lounges.
Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport is Istanbul’s secondary airport consisting of a single passenger terminal and located 35 km from the city center. If you don’t want to hop into a taxi you can reach the airport by ferry or bus. Once you have arrived at the airport you will find everything you would need for a pleasant stay including shops, cafés and eateries. The airport offers Wi-Fi for a fee as well as numerous Internet kiosks so you can keep up-to-date with friends and colleagues easily.
What to Expect in Ercan
Over the summer you can expect high temperatures regularly exceeding over 30C, although over winter things cool down significantly so you may need to bring something warm to wear in the evenings. As a part of the EU, many nationals including UAE citizens are able to enter the country without needing a visa.
