The two airports serving Dubai are Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). While Dubai International Airport currently serves most flights in and out of the country, Al Maktoum International Airport is still in development and is projected to become the main airport in the country in the future. Passengers journeying from Melbourne to Dubai are able to catch flights with Emirates and Qantas, although be advised that Qantas are scheduled to end their service in March 2018. All flights to Dubai are based out of Melbourne Tullamarine Airport and land at Dubai International Airport.

Once you have landed at Dubai International Airport you can catch the Dubai Metro from Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 to travel into central Dubai, or you may opt for a taxi if you want a direct route to your destination. Both Emirates and Qantas fly to and from Terminal 3.

Melbourne Tullamarine Airport is the primary international airport serving Melbourne comprised of four passenger terminals. The main international terminal at the airport is Terminal 2 which is housed within the same terminal complex as Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. There is much to do while you wait to board your flight including numerous shops to browse through as well as multiple dining and drinking choices. Once you have arrived at the airport the most popular public transport service running into central Melbourne is the Skybus, although you can just as easily find a taxi to reach your destination directly.
What to Expect in Dubai
In Dubai the weather gets very hot over the summer but cools down to pleasant temperatures with the onset of winter, but it will still be warm enough that you are unlikely to need a jacket. Australian citizens are able to obtain a visa upon arriving in the country, and don’t forget to bring your passport with you in order to board your flight. Remember that Dubai is 6 hours behind Melbourne so you will need to change your clocks once you arrive.
