Arriving in Baku Heydar Aliyev International
Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport is made up of two passenger terminals. If you are traveling on an international flight you will be based at Terminal 1, while Terminal 2 is used for domestic flights. At Terminal 1 you will find plenty of amenities and facilities to meet your needs. Along with a plentiful range of fast food outlets, cafés and restaurants, you can do some duty-free shopping or pick up a souvenir and one of the gift shops. There are also a couple of airport lounges in the passenger terminal and free Wi-Fi is available.
When your flight has landed at the airport, you can catch the Aero Express shuttle bus service to travel into the city which is available 24 hours a day. Alternatively, there is a car rental company in Terminal 1 if you wish to explore the region with your own vehicle. Taxis are also available 24 hours a day if this is more convenient than catching the bus. From the airport it is only around a 30-minute drive to reach the center of Baku.
Flying from the UAE to Baku
Those based in the UAE have several options available if you plan on flying to Baku, with direct flights available from Dubai International Airport, Abu Dhabi International Airport and Sharjah. Baku Travel Information
Find hotel deals in Baku. UAE nationals traveling to Azerbaijan are able to get a visa upon arrival which allows you to stay for up to 30 days. Make sure you pack for hot weather if you visit Baku during the summer when average highs reach around 30 degrees. However, if you travel over the winter then you will need some proper winter clothing with you as temperatures can often drop below freezing. You won’t need to alter your clocks when traveling to Azerbaijan as it is within the same time zone as the UAE.
