Puducherry Airport is set within a new passenger terminal which opened up in 2013, although the airport ceased operations and only in 2017 started operating commercial flights again. The airport currently handles just a couple of domestic flights with SpiceJet and does not service any international flights. Although UAE-based travelers will not be able to fly directly to Puducherry, you will conveniently be able to travel with just a single connecting flight. The airport terminal has the capacity to handle around 300 passengers at a time and offers a small range of facilities and amenities for travelers.
Arriving in Puducherry
It is highly advisable to prearrange a taxi or transfer before your flight arrives in Puducherry as there is no guarantee of taxi availability from the airport. The airport does not have any links to the local public transport network so you will need to rely upon a taxi to reach your destination. If you plan on traveling further afield you can access the local bus network within Puducherry.

The weather in Puducherry is hottest from May to August with average highs of 34 to 36 degrees, while it still remains fairly warm across the rest of the year. The rainy season in the region begins in October and continues through until December, while the driest time of year is from January to June.
