Wernigerode is worth a visit.

Short break at Hotel Am Anger was good. Breakfast as buffet fine, rooms nicely decorated, nice staff, daily cleaning, prices in the upper range. Centrally located near the train station, town hall and Harz narrow gauge railway. Parking for cars is charged extra.
For short breaks max. 5 days okay, for longer time there are enough other cheaper accommodations.

Lovely hotel in beautiful town

Charming hotel in a quiet part of the town. The hotel is conveniently located for the main station, mountain railway and the town. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was clean, even if the bed and floor creaked. Breakfast was very good. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this beautiful toen.

Quiet, good value Hotel.

This hotel is located to the South side of Breite Straße near the corner with Schäferstraße with which it runs parallel back a considerable distance.
There is a small car park at the back of the hotel. If this is full, a display voucher is provided to allow parking in nearby City Carparks. City Tax must be settled in cash, credit cards may only be used for the accommodation itself.
The rooms are spread around the meandering site and vary in size. But they are comfortable, clean and quiet. They are priced very competitively.
Breakfast is served in a separate building in the rear yard on the first floor, accessed by a spiral staircase. There is a reasonable choice.

Comfortable and friendly hotel

Lovely room with a view of Wernigerode Castle from the window.
Staff were very welcoming.
Breakfast was superb with lovely crispy bacon , scrambled eggs, lovely orange juice and coffee and all the usual stuff and great rolls.

A mixed experience.

This hotel was recommended to us by a german friend and perhaps it is as good as he said when it's not full but our experience was mixed to say the least. First the good things - the receptionist we met on arrival was friendly and helpful, assisted us with our bags, and to find a parking space on the street as the car park was full. We had a nice view of the Schloss from our room, which had an excellent bathroom and the breakfast, included in the room price, was excellent - lots of choice and very good coffee. It was also very convenient for the station where you catch the train up to the top of the Brocken - a 10 minute walk.
Now the problems - we had specifically asked not to be on the top floor but perhaps because they were full, that's where they put us. This meant traipsing up several flights of stairs [no lift] every time we went up to our room, and for some reason, the hardest bed I've ever slept in in a hotel. The beds in this room looked considerably less luxurious than those in other rooms that we glimpsed on our way past and there was no chance of being moved as the hotel was full. And no chance of using the garden as cars were continually coming and going from the car park which was clearly too small for the size of the clientelle which was why we needed to park on the street. And sadly, some of the staff were less than friendly - things seemed to be a lot of trouble for them so in the end, we didn't bother to ask.
