Muscat International Airport is the primary airport serving Oman comprised of a single passenger terminal, although a brand-new terminal is projected to open at the end of 2017. The most popular way for travelers to get to their destination once they have touched down at the airport is by taxi as the center of the city is only 15 km away. If you're planning to explore the country you could also rent a car in Muscat. During your time at the airport you will find everything you would need including a variety of shops and duty-free stores alongside plenty of places to eat and drink. You can also stay connected with free Wi-Fi provided by the airport or spend your time in one of the airport lounges.
Airport Information - Departing
Birmingham Airport is comprised of two passenger terminals which are connected, so if you arrive at the wrong terminal you can easily make the switch. If you would rather avoid taking a taxi to the airport, you can get there by bus or rail from central Birmingham. Once you have arrived at the airport there are various things to do including many shops, restaurants and cafés, while you can also benefit from free Wi-Fi. In addition to this, families traveling with children can take the kids to the Sky Zone children’s play area to keep them occupied.
What to Expect in Muscat
In Muscat the weather gets extremely hot over the summer with average highs of around 40C to be expected, while it still stays very warm over the winter so you’re unlikely to need a jacket. EU nationals traveling to Oman can apply for an eVisa or get a visa upon arrival, while UAE nationals are able to enter the country on a visa-free basis. Be advised that Muscat is three hours ahead of Birmingham so you don’t forget to put your clocks forward to local time once your flight has landed.
